The Longevity Book

The Longevity Book is a collaborative digital platform, conceived and built by BlueCompanion, for generating real-world evidence (RWE) in longevity medicine. It is a fast-emerging field — and one that still lacks shared standards, robust data and clear regulatory guidance. The Longevity Book sets out to fill that gap: a protected, high-quality-data environment where academia- and patient-driven projects can run independent cohort studies and gather evidence on the effects of new therapeutics and preventative approaches to healthy ageing.

The Intrinsic Capacity model

At its core, the platform operationalises the Intrinsic Capacity model endorsed by the World Health Organization in 2019 — a scientifically validated framework for tracking the essential functions of healthy ageing across six components, from cognition to locomotion and vision. The Longevity Book captures these longitudinally, mirroring and extending the model, so that populations and subgroups of interest can be followed over time. Patient Experience Data complete the picture, capturing the perceived benefit of a given intervention.

A protected, multi-stakeholder platform

BlueCompanion designed and built the platform end to end: a single environment accessible simultaneously to multiple stakeholders, compliant with EU and US requirements and ICH regulatory guidance, in which several programmes can run independently. Each participant connects through a personalised interface and keeps ownership of their own data, which — with informed consent — can also support secondary research.

Patients at the centre

Participants take part through eCare, BlueCompanion's patient portal: each person can view their own data, upload their lab reports and complete questionnaires directly — and the data they contribute stays theirs. It's an approach that puts the Longevity Book ahead of where healthcare regulation is heading: under the EU's European Health Data Space, which applies from 2027, giving patients access to and control over their own health data becomes a legal requirement across the Union — exactly the model the platform is built on.

An emerging initiative, open to collaboration

The Longevity Book is currently a working prototype, presented by the BlueCompanion team at ICFSR 2026 in Washington, D.C. Realising its full potential calls for a critical mass of participating sites and broad geographic reach, so BlueCompanion is now working to establish a scientific consortium — and welcomes academic and clinical partners who want to help build rigorous evidence for longevity medicine.
